Union mill was dedicated to weaving cotton and its looms were powered by a steam powered single beam engine.
After only eighteen years the original partners, Samuel and Richard Harrison, failed and the mill was taken over by the Sabden Weaving Company in 1874. In the early 1900’s ownership passed to Lockwood and Buckley and after the First World War, like other mills in Sabden, was purchased by James Studdard and Sons.
The streets nearby would cater for the needs of the mill workers with a fish and chip shop and a 50 seat cafe within two minutes walk from the mill.
Weaving ceased in 1964/5 and the mill housed a furniture manufacturer and then subsequently became an antique centre.
Today it houses offices and small production units.
